Did you know Toronto is bidding right now to host the global headquarters of the newly announced DSRB war bank?

The DSRB is a brand new war bank — a finance arm of NATO’s war machine designed to fund and accelerate a global arms race.

The DSRB stands for “Defence, Security and Resilience Bank” — a new bank pitched in late 2025 and set to launch later this year. It’s intended to serve as a hub where public money will be used to solicit private investment in weapons and military industries.

In response to campaigns that successfully forced institutions worldwide to divest from weapons of war, they are creating a new way to funnel money directly to arms manufacturers.

Prime Minister Carney, Premier Ford, Mayor Chow and local Liberal MPs like Julie Dzerowicz and Karim Bardeesy are campaigning to have this bank housed here, in Toronto. And they are prepared to offer tax breaks and other incentives for the privilege of hosting military industry executives and war profiteers.

More money, more problems. Housing the bank in Toronto will more deeply enmesh Toronto’s economy with industries of war, genocide, and plunder. This will all but guarantee an increase in police targeting of anti-war organizers, divestment and solidarity groups, and others who might impede the the hundreds of billions of dollars flowing to the people and corporations who profit most from war and genocide.

Hosting a new war bank, at the same time that Carney has pledged to triple Canada’s military spending, would be a commitment to support and fund a war-filled future. It would mean a foreign policy for Canada based on ever-increasing militarization and violence.

Take action now to reject a vision for Toronto as a funder and facilitator of military violence around the world.
