We feel now is the time to increase pressure on our elected officials to:
Demand an immediate ceasefire;
Commit to no Canadian participation in US-Israeli aggression;
And the lifting of sanctions, which hurt ordinary Iranians.
The unprovoked, illegal U.S.-Israeli assault against Iran has thrown the world into a dangerous and volatile situation. The repeated repudiation of international law by the U.S. and Israel is increasingly threatening a new global conflict. From Venezuela, to Cuba, to Gaza, to Iran—it is clear that if the U.S, Israel, and their NATO allies are not stopped, global war is on the horizon.
The Carney government has, along with 22 NATO members and allies, committed to contribute to the U.S. led effort to open the Strait of Hormuz, showing that this Liberal government favours ‘the law of the jungle’ as long as it boosts profits. In light of this, all peace-loving people must stop Canada from joining the imperialist war on Iran, both to prevent bloodshed abroad and a spiraling cost of living crisis at home.
Canada needs a foreign policy based on peace, disarmament, and solidarity, not war and aggression.
